Unsure what to do after undergrad? Come to our meeting to hear about the personal experiences of

current UM graduate students,

Carmen Vasquez, Ph.D., and others!!

Also, we will be having executive board elections at the last meeting of the semester.  We will be accepting applications until the day before the meeting. Please keep in mind that only formally initiated members can be a part of the e-board!

If you would like a Psi Chi t-shirt, they are $10. Please send an email request or approach any of us at the Wednesday meeting.

Lastly, the member who has the best attendance (to both standard meetings and weekend events) at the end of the year, will receive a free Kaplan course!!

Second Meeting & NEDAW

Hi Psi Chi members,

 

We will be having our second general meeting this Wednesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial 209. We will have a guest speaker and a little presentation about body image and eating disorders.

This week (Feb 20 to 26) is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW). Come to our meeting for more info on all of the events going on this week! In addition, if you stop by the B.A.R.E. table in the breezeway on Wednesday and fill out a brief questionnaire, you can enter for a chance to win a free massage donated by the Herbert Wellness Center.

 

If you would like a Psi Chi t-shirt, they are $10. Please send an email request or approach any of us at the Thursday meeting. If you would like to order graduation cords, they are $15 and can also be requested via email or in person. The deadline to order the graduation materials is April 1st!

 

Last, the member who has the best attendance (to both standard meetings and weekend events) at the end of the year, will receive a free Kaplan course!!

First Meeting of Spring Semester!

Walk for Autism!

We will also be learning more about autism & we have the pleasure of having our first guest speaker of the semester: Kent!

Bake Sale for Walk for Autism

Hi Psi Chi!

Welcome Back! We are very excited to start off the semester! Our biggest event this semester will be the Walk for Autism which will take place on Sunday, February 27th, 2011.

Please help us in our efforts to fundraise for this cause. We will be having a Bake Sale on Monday, January 31st, 2011 from 1PM to 3PM at the 5th Floor Elevator Lobby of Flipse building.

Last Meeting of Fall Semester!

Hi Psi Chi members!

This Wednesday, November 17, we will be having our last meeting of the semester. It will take place in the I-Lounge at the University Center at 6:30 pm. We will be hosting a special speaker, Matthew Lieberman, who will talk about his experience with Schizophrenia. 

In addition, we have scheduled our yearbook picture for that day. If you want to appear in the yearbook with us, please come to the meeting and wear your Psi Chi shirt if you have one!!

We would also like to announce that we will have an E-Board opening for Treasurer for next semester. If you would like an application, send us an email at umiamipsichi@gmail.com and turn this in via email, in person at this meeting, or in our mailbox on the fifth floor of Flipse by November 24. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Out of the Darkness: Suicide Prevention Walk!

UM Lifeguards will be hosting the Out of the Darkness: Suicide Prevention Walk this Sunday!

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes, claiming more than 33,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute; with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. With your participation, you will not just be walking, you will be helping to save lives.Come out and show your support on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 9AM!
